When Alma de Ganay arrived in New York, she brought with her an impressive background in both art and fashion. However, she could not have foreseen the torrent of opportunities and experiences that lay ahead. Immersing herself in the city’s vibrant culture, Alma dedicated herself to forming connections and gaining vital experience in the realm of fashion public relations.
Collaborating with Maryam Nassir Zadeh
Encountering Maryam Nassir Zadeh represented a pivotal moment in Alma’s professional development. Having admired Maryam’s work long before her relocation to the city, stepping into the role of PR manager on her team marked a significant achievement for Alma.
Quickly, her duties expanded beyond public relations to include visual merchandising and contributing to the brand’s creative vision.
Working closely with Maryam not only refined Alma’s talents but also allowed her to cultivate a network that paved the way for future opportunities. This experience deepened her understanding of the fashion industry and the intricacies involved in brand establishment while nurturing a creative ethos.
Alma’s time in New York laid a solid groundwork for her career, enabling her to return to Europe equipped with valuable connections and the potential to engage with American clients while advancing her professional journey. The knowledge and relationships she developed during this period have been instrumental in shaping her ongoing trajectory.
Projects Following New York
Upon her return to Europe, Alma’s creative journey continued to flourish. She collaborated with the acclaimed photographer Brianna Capozzi, known for her distinctive portrayals of unconventional women, highlighted by whimsical themes, eclectic elements, and daring nudity.
Alma partnered with Brianna to establish branding for her inspiring charitable initiative, On The Nose. This project, co-founded with Brianna’s partner Maya Barrera, gathers artists to create and paint ceramics, with the proceeds benefiting New York-based charities.
In addition to her experiences in fashion and art, Alma ventured into the music industry. She worked with Julian Casablancas, the lead singer of The Voidz, to promote their new single, “All The Same.” In this role, Alma applied her public relations and strategic abilities to ensure that the launch matched the impact of the music itself.
During her year-long focus on Maryam Nassir Zadeh, the experiences gained provided her with essential groundwork, connections, and opportunities. Alma made a lasting impression on New York’s creative community, carrying that momentum with her back to Europe.
