A name that resonates with creativity, adaptability, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence, Tanya Pedra has truly carved out her space in the world of graphic design, making waves not only in Spain but also in the United States. Her journey—from the rich cultural tapestry of Mexico to the vibrant bustle of New York City—offers a wealth of inspiration. Tanya’s story goes beyond the impressive works she creates; it’s a testament to her ability to embrace change, navigate diverse cultures, and intertwine her passions with meaningful pursuits that resonate with a wide audience.

Tanya Pedra was born in the charming town of San Luis Potosi, nestled in north-central Mexico. Known for its stunning colonial architecture and breathtaking landscapes, it provided the perfect backdrop for Tanya’s formative years. The rich cultural encounters she experienced during her childhood laid the groundwork for her artistic sensibility. One of her fondest memories is of Costanzo chocolates, a treasured brand from her hometown. In particular, the “Tornillo” chocolate bar sparked her early imagination, showcasing how local flavors can inspire remarkable creativity.

Tanya’s upbringing was a colorful mosaic of experiences, marked by multiple relocations that opened her eyes to a treasure trove of diverse cultures. From the vibrant chaos of Mexico City to the colorful scenes of Brazil, and eventually to the serene coastal oasis of Vinaros in Spain, each place added a layer to her artistic vision. This eclectic journey would later become the hallmark of her design philosophy, as she masterfully blended diverse cultural elements into her work.

At just 18, Tanya took a significant leap by moving to Barcelona. She enrolled in an arts-focused high school, immersing herself in drawing, painting, and art history. With its lively artistic community and rich design heritage, Barcelona was the perfect launchpad for her burgeoning talent. Tanya continued to build on that foundation with a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, which equipped her with essential skills for a career that would lead her across continents.

Her professional journey took off in Barcelona, where she collaborated with renowned design studios, gaining invaluable experience. In 2011, she joined a high-profile studio led by Martín Azúa, an esteemed designer known for his innovative work in product and interior design. Here, Tanya honed her skills and explored the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and modern design, all while collaborating with brands such as the jewelry label Majoral.

The following year, she transitioned to Larsson-Duprez, a dynamic agency specializing in advertising and branding. It was there that she famously contributed to campaigns for globally recognized brands like Adidas and Carolina Herrera. These projects not only showcased her versatility as a designer but also solidified her reputation as someone who could seamlessly adapt her style across various industries.

A significant chapter in Tanya’s career unfolded between 2014 and 2017 when she joined Nomon Design, a leading branding, packaging, and digital communications agency. During this time, she played a central role in designing branding strategies for high-profile clients, including Lékué, a renown kitchen product company, and the luxurious El Celler de Can Roca’s Rocook, a three Michelin-star restaurant that pushes culinary boundaries, as well as the esteemed cookware brand Le Creuset.

In 2017, seeking new horizons, Tanya dared to leap into the fast-paced world of New York City. This bold move was not without its challenges, as she adapted to the demanding pace of one of the world’s design capitals. After refining her skills through the Creative Practices program at the International Center of Photography, she joined Madwell, a Brooklyn-based agency celebrated for its innovative approach to advertising and branding. From 2019 to 2022, Tanya worked on projects for notable brands like Uncommon Goods, Zarbee’s Naturals, and Everly, further strengthening her expertise in digital design and branding.

The summer of 2022 saw Tanya take on new challenges at Zero Studios, where she led creative transformations for a variety of brands, including Hippeas, SmartSweets, and Guayakí. Each project ignited her passion and allowed her to weave storytelling into her designs, highlighting her dedication to creating work that blends artistry with emotional resonance.

As of 2023, Tanya has joined the Milk Agency, diving into campaigns for clients such as New Balance, Nutrafol, Endeavor Streaming, and Elastic. Her fresh initiatives reflect her innovative mindset, particularly in developing solutions that push digital boundaries.

Tanya’s creative journey in New York has been nothing short of transformative. The city’s cultural diversity continuously inspires her work, allowing her to reimagine her artistic direction. As she engages with the vibrant local creative community, she has formed connections with prominent artists like Niege Borges, whose work has gained recognition from major brands including TikTok, Google, Vogue, and Amazon. These collaborations are poised to shape the next stage of Tanya’s artistic evolution.

Moreover, since 2021, Tanya has taken her commitment to the next generation of designers seriously through her involvement with the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) New York chapter’s Mentorship Program. In this capacity, she shares her wealth of knowledge with aspiring designers, providing guidance on career development, portfolio reviews, and industry insights. Her dedication to mentorship not only reflects her desire to give back, but also underscores the importance of fostering a supportive community within the creative sphere.
