“Valentina Podshivalova: Innovating the Future of 3D Jewelry Design with Visionary Flair”

Emerging from a childhood marked by a scarcity of colors, a designer has risen with a visionary outlook that turns constraints into boundless creativity. Her exquisite 3D jewelry, now revered in the upper echelons of high fashion, beautifully merges artistic elegance with cutting-edge technology.

Currently, Valentina Podshivalova is a notable figure in the elite world of high jewelry, recognized for her detailed designs that harmoniously blend mechanical innovation with artistic expression.

Her transformation from a small-town needlework enthusiast to a globally acknowledged designer highlights the intricacy and grace found in her creations. This journey has been characterized by steadfast dedication, inventive vision, and a singular goal to elevate art into exquisite, wearable pieces that tell their own stories.

    Early Enthusiasm

Valentina’s design passion was sparked by needlework—an art she approached with an uncommon resolve for someone her age. “As a child, I loved needlework. I could spend the whole day without a break working on some creation—embroidery, crochet, sewing. Painting and drawing were also my favorite occupations,” she recalls.

“I did not attend art circles or schools, but creativity always accompanied me.” By the time she reached high school, she earned the Young Talents Award for an embroidery project, marking the beginning of an artistic journey that would traverse a variety of forms.

Her intrigue with fine details and tactile artistry naturally led her to the jewelry design sector. After graduating from the Institute of Art and Design in her native Izhevsk, Russia, Valentina was drawn to the three-dimensional art of high jewelry during an internship at a jewelry company.

She began her professional journey at Golden Orchideus, stepping into the role of an apprentice 3D designer. Guided by the talented Shadrin Sergey Vasilievich—whose designs have garnered attention at significant events like the JCK Las Vegas Show—Valentina diligently honed her skills and cultivated her artistic identity.

    The Allure of Complexity

Following her initial achievements at Golden Orchideus, Valentina advanced to Master Exclusive, where her role as a 3D designer underwent significant enhancement. As the chief designer of the department, she not only created new designs but also conceptualized technically sophisticated pieces that merged art with mechanical function.

Among her standout works at Master Exclusive was a beetle brooch with delicate, articulating wings and a flower brooch featuring a bud that unfurls into bloom. More than just engineering feats, these creations became layered artworks combining aesthetic allure with practical design.

Her commitment to creating exclusive jewelry with detailed mechanisms earned her widespread recognition. Valentina’s unique style has been acknowledged in international jewelry competitions.

Embracing Autonomy: A Shift During the Pandemic

Like many others, Valentina found the pandemic to be a transformative period. After years spent in design houses, she made the decision to embrace independence. “It was challenging to return to office work, and I decided to explore self-employment,” she shares.

At first, she designed for jewelers in Switzerland, Italy, France, and even the U.S. and China. However, she soon craved more creative latitude and began producing her own jewelry.

It wasn’t long before her unique perspective caught the attention of the organizers at Artistar Milano Jewelry Week, who invited two of her creations for an exhibition in Italy: the “Chocolate” brooch and the “Bat” ring.

Her work was so exceptional that the “Chocolate” brooch earned a spot on the event’s book cover—an impressive accolade and a reflection of her growing stature in the international jewelry arena.

    Collaborations with Icons

Valentina’s collaborations have further enhanced her illustrious career. A notable partnership was with American actress and jewelry designer Juliana Donald, which, she reflects, pushed her creativity in exciting new directions and solidified her place in elite high jewelry circles.

Despite her achievements, Valentina remains humble, often acknowledging those who have inspired her journey.

“Professionally, I admire many designers. Their creations captivate my eye, igniting inspiration within me,” she states, naming influential figures such as Luz Camino, JAR, and Claire Falkenstein.

However, her greatest inspiration comes from her grandmother, whom she affectionately refers to as her “main reference point” for kindness and integrity.

    Envisioning the Future of Jewelry

Looking ahead, Valentina aims to establish her own brand and produce pieces that represent her vision instead of simply following market trends. “I want to spend the next few years focusing on my creations. I wish to design without being influenced by cost or sales numbers,” she articulates.

Her upcoming collections are set to merge the intricate mechanical qualities that define her work with innovative, contemporary themes. Each creation, she emphasizes, carries an important responsibility—one she feels more deeply now that she is designing in her own name.

“When you create jewelry independently, not under another brand, a unique kind of pressure manifests,” she clarifies. “You become more attuned to the buyer’s perception.”

    Global Influence

Valentina’s artistry transcends boundaries, with her work featured in prestigious exhibitions around the globe. From Milan to Moscow, her pieces captivate audiences, intertwining Russian artistic traditions with modern aesthetics.

Her accolades are noteworthy: a third-place finish at the Junwex St. Petersburg International Jewelry Contest, finalist placements at the New Russian Style and Junwex Moscow exhibitions, and numerous honors from international festivals.

Her impact extends far beyond her creations. She hopes to motivate other digital designers, reminding them that they need not remain hidden behind their employers. “There are countless resources available today to showcase your work,” she remarks, aspiring for her journey to inspire others to step into the spotlight.

In the vast realm of high jewelry, Valentina Podshivalova’s contributions are truly groundbreaking. Her extensive collection of awards and international recognition exemplifies a career defined by visionary artistry and steadfast dedication.

She has transcended the conventional boundaries of jewelry design, creating not just embellishments but transformative symbols of creativity and courage. As her legacy develops, it becomes evident that her influence extends well beyond her captivating pieces, leaving a significant impact on the design world and inspiring the next generation of creators.
